Facilitating linkages and relationships between schools, organisations, industry and government
Career management skills have helped young people to transition successfully to post secondary training or a job after school. They encouraged students to value learning by linking it to their hopes and dreams for the future.
-Australian Blueprint for Career Development.
BJL has long been involved with Career Development since the Australian Federal Government, after researching the Canadian model, adopted the Australian Blueprint for Career Development as its platform for career development in schools within Australia
Transitional milestones within the development of a young person’s skills, knowledge and experiential base have always been challenging and as such need to be managed effectively in order to maximise learning opportunities and challenge and extend the capabilities of our young people.
The aim of BJL was to influence the career development of young people within our region through our ongoing contact with schools, community, business and industry, educationalists and parents. A resilient, engaged, informed and supported community enhanced the learning and development of our young people and by working in partnership and sharing the responsibility of career development, the whole community benefited.
BJL, in the delivery of our services aimed at building the capacity of the community to develop innovative and cooperative strategies to assist young people in transition and facilitating the involvement of the whole community in the process was a primary concern.
